Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Good morning,
Unfortunately, we have had to take the decision to close school today on the grounds of health and safety.
The continued snowfall since 6:15am has made the site unsafe. Staff on site have tried to clear access paths, but as quickly as they are clearing, it is covering over again.
In addition, we have a number of staff who either struggled to get into school yesterday, or were unable to get into school. We envisage that this will be the same today.
School will be open again on Monday as usual.
I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you today.
Regards,
Tom Garner
Head Teacher.
Dear Parents,
Thursday 2nd March is World Book Day. We would like to encourage all children to participate in World Book Day this year by coming to school dressed as a character from a book/their favourite book.
Children not wishing to dress as a character from a book should come to school in school uniform.
For those children who have P.E. on a Thursday, a costume that is suitable for P.E. as well would be ideal, but where that is not possible, children should bring in suitable clothes to change into. For 3/4R (who will be going swimming), it would be appreciated if the costume was easy for your child to change out of and back into!
Regards,
Fairhaven Primary School.
School will be closed on Monday 19th September 2022 for the Queen's funeral as the day has been declared a bank holiday by His Majesty King Charles III.
Dear Parents,
We will be having a mufti day in school on Friday 22nd October. Children are encouraged to WEAR RED in support of the UK's leading anti-racism educational charity, Show Racism the Red Card. It could be a red item of clothing, or an accessory such as red socks or a head band.
Children who have PE on Friday can wear something red and sporty if possible!
We will not be collecting donations for this charity, so please don't send any money with your child. Children are being asked to wear red in recognition of the cause and to raise awareness in school.

Dear Parents,
You may have seen over the weekend that the Government has announced that parents with school age children and anyone within that family's support bubble is now eligible for twice weekly lateral flow testing.
The guidance has been updated regularly over the couple of days, including a number of times today because links did not work or websites crashed.
You can now order home testing kits using this link:
https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests
You can also visit a test site for lateral flow testing. Your nearest site can be found here: https://maps.test-and-trace.nhs.uk/
FOR INFORMATION:
What twice-weekly testing involves
You will be asked to:
- take a test twice a week (every 3 or 4 days apart)
- report every result to NHS Test and Trace on the same day you take the test
- Report your test result online or by calling 119.
If anyone tests positive or gets coronavirus symptoms, they should tell the school and:
- self-isolate immediately
- get a PCR test to confirm the result
- follow the stay at home guidance for households with possible coronavirus infection
A negative result means the test did not find signs of coronavirus. But this does not guarantee you do not have coronavirus, so you should keep following all coronavirus advice including:
- regular handwashing
- social distancing
- wearing a face covering where recommended
Despite best efforts this morning, the school site is too unsafe for us to be able to open today and therefore we will be CLOSED to all pupils.
Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause but we have been unable to clear a safe entrance to and exit from the school because of the very low overnight temperatures and freezing conditions.
Attempts will continue today to ensure that school can open as normal tomorrow.
Dear Parents,
I have just received a telephone call from Ofsted to inform me that two HMIs (Her Majesty's Inspectors) will be visiting us tomorrow.
The visit is part of Ofsted's current remit to look at how schools have responded to the COVID-19 pandemic and will not result in a grade for the school or collect evidence for future inspections.
