Joy Wheeler - Chair of Curriculum Committee/Vice Chair of Governors

I am a retired headteacher and have over 45  years experience of working in education.  During my teaching career I served as a staff governor at 2 schools for several years.  As headteacher I was a member of my school Governing Board for over 22 years and have a sound knowledge of all aspects of governance.  I also worked with the Local Authority school improvement team in Dudley in supporting other schools.  Since retiring I have joined the Governing Board at two schools and have continued to undergo training in order to maintain up to date knowledge.  This enables me to challenge and support my schools.  I am committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for pupils, as well as supporting the well-being and development of the staff.  Parents and carers are their children's first teachers, with starting school the next stage of  everyone's learning. I believe that home and school can work together to help all children achieve their best in all aspects of learning and life, and, be part of the whole school and local community.

I have been a Governor at Fairhaven for many years.  I was one of the two first parent governors, a co-opted Governor and a LEA Governor.  I was Chairman of Governors for a long period of time.  I think I first became a Governor in the early 80's and have always been proud of being associated with the school. I still regularly attend meetings and take an active part.  I have been a Councillor for over 20 years and believe that I have played an active part in many improvements to the school.  My two sons both attended Fairhaven and one of the amazing things about Fairhaven are the friendships between parents and children that have been maintained for many years.

Julie Darlaston

I have worked as a Teaching Assistant at Fairhaven for over 14 years.  I became a parent Governor almost 10 years ago, my 3 children all attended Fairhaven.  After my youngest left I became a co-opted Governor.  My main Governor roles and focus are Safeguarding, SEND and Pupil Premium.  I recently became a link Governor for PHSE and British Values.  I enjoy being a Governor and feel very strongly about keeping children safe and their positive experiences at Fairhaven.

Imelda Gilhooley

I am a retired secondary school teacher and senior leader. I taught in Sandwell for 25 years and Dudley for nine years. I have been a school governor for approximately 30 years and I am Chair of Governors at another Dudley Primary school. Although a one and a half form entry is new to me, and I am on a huge learning curve with this, I believe I have the skills and understanding of my role as a governor at Fairhaven to provide both support and challenge to the school in order to achieve the best outcomes for all children who attend Fairhaven Primary School.
