Reading Challenge

Around the World Reading Challenge

I am delighted to inform you that we have today launched our new bespoke reading challenge “Around the World Reading Challenge.” Texts and activities have been specifically selected for each year groups with the ultimate purpose of the challenge being to develop a long lasting love of reading. Dr Seuss famously said “The more you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you will go!”

Your child will tonight come home with their reading challenge pack and also a leaflet detailing how you can help your child with questioning. Please discuss the challenges with your child and how you can set about completing them.  When one of the challenges has been completed please sign your child’s home school reading record.  Your child’s class teacher will then initial the reading challenge pack so it is important that this is returned to school on a regular basis.  It is not intended that the challenge is completed over a few weeks but it is anticipated that it will last well into the academic year. At different stages of the challenge children will be awarded different badges.

I hope that you and your child will be able to embrace this challenge.

Yours sincerely

Mrs A Smith

English Coordinator
